This paper gives theoretical substantiation for the effectiveness of replacing the traditional scheme of freight train, representing a chain of cars all successively connected to the locomotive by a modular scheme, where the rolling stock is assembled of several independent blocks (modules) connected in parallel to the contact electrical network consisting of a traction (motor) car, joined by several standard (non-drive) cars.
