Abstract

The basic stages of development and results of the theory and techniques of automotive automatic transmissions control in close connection with the evolution of transmissions are considered. These stages cover a period of 50 years - from three- or four- stage hydraulic automatic hydromechanical transmissions to modern integrated mechatronic control systems of multistage hydromechanical and hybrid electro-mechanical transmissions by leading automotive companies.
