Abstract

The present work deals with numerical modeling of aerodynamics of a road MAZ truck with regard to the bottom relief, wheel rotation and the truck movement relative to the road. This allowed us to reveal the basic adverse zones of vortex formation. For various movements at different velocities the predicted value of the aerodynamic drag is almost constant and was equal to 0.76. This value is among the available values of the aerodynamic drag of modern foreign prototypes of road tractor-trailer truck. The results obtained can be used not only for optimization of the whole truck construction, but also for outer aerodynamic facilities and truck cab separately.
