Abstract |
A computer simulation of transient processes is performed that occur in the train intercar connections at starting from standstill, transition to idling and electrodynamic braking by the locomotive on a straight horizontal section of the railway track. The effect of gap clearances in the automatic coupling devices of homogeneous trains on the maximum intercar forces and the nature of their actions is studied. The diagrams of the maximum forces in the train at transient processes and their distribution along the train length are presented. It is shown that increase of the gap clearances leads to an increase in the values of impact forces and their action time. The necessity of a smooth change of the traction and braking forces at train operation allowing to reduce the longitudinal forces to values that ensure the traffic safety is demonstrated. |

Abstract |
An experimental study of the influence of the rms value and the broadband parameter of the random load on the durability of the elements of the products is carried out. According to the test results, the dependence of the durability on the broadband parameter is proposed. The accuracy of the correspondence of the data calculated by the proposed dependence with the experimental results is evaluated. |

Abstract |
A mathematical model of the load of the shearer drive of the drum type cutting unit is introduced. It takes into account the speed of its movement, the angular speed of rotation of the cutting unit, the taper angle of the cutting part and the number of picks. At design stage, its use makes it possible to determine the required rated drive power, taking into account sylvinite resistance to cutting, the tapering angle and the drum width, and during the shearer operation, to determine the actual value of potash resistance to cutting index in order to select the most efficient value from the standpoint of productivity, geometric parameters of picks and tooling for their fastening. Analytical dependencies are suggested, linking the cutting unit drive load and the cutting process performance with the modes of shearer operation, including its movement speed and speed of the cutting unit rotation, the taper angle of the picks and their quantity, the analysis of which showed that reducing the pick angle φ makes it possible to increase the capacity of the shearer by 10–20 % without increasing the cutting unit load. However, it is necessary to take into account the strength properties and wear resistance of the picks, the interrelation of the increasing thickness of the sheared layer with the design parameters of the picks and pick holders, and cutting depth influence on particle size distribution of the mined ore. |

Abstract |
Recommendations were developed for determining the strength indicators of the most loaded elements of the top spring leaves of the front suspensions of trucks based on computer simulation of the processes of destruction and the study of the mechanical properties of the material. The method was tested on the example of a standard spring design with two upturned eyes at the front ends. The proposed guidelines for determining the indicators of the strength of the springs eyes can be used in the design of road blockers for the calculation of the existing loads. |

Abstract |
A method of monitoring perception of semantically binary relevant information by a driver in highly automated vehicles is presented for the first time, taking into account information flows circulating in the vehicle’s on-board systems, the driver’s reactions to semantically binary relevant information, the dynamics of the driver’s professionally important qualities in a solution to transferring control to the driver in highly automated vehicles when the onboard systems of the vehicle can not support further “without pilot” control mode, i. e. they do not correspond to the operational design domain. The current main problems of the safety of the operation of highly automated and unmanned vehicles are considered. The structure of the upper level system is developed for the transfer of control to the driver in highly automated vehicles. A classification of semantically binary relevant information is presented, and significant factors influencing perception are identified. |
